Kaylee's Baptism

Kaylee got baptized last Saturday on July 11th.  This was such a big day for her.  She had been preparing herself for so long and could barely wait for this day to come.   We went shopping one night for a pretty white dress and matching shoes for the occasion.  I learned that this isn't a very easy task...there are slim pickins' out there.  We found one we both loved, at last.  Her face lit up every time she thought about her baptism dress and shoes and her big day ahead.  I took her out early one morning for a photo shoot.  We had to preserve the memories, especially since she's all about growing up these days.

She was lucky and had a lot of family fly into town to make her day extra special.

Our little family  I couldn't pass up an opportunity for a family picture. :)

Our Family

This is totally besides the point, but I had to laugh at how everyone coordinated so well in all of the family pictures.  And no...I didn't plan it!  No one mentioned what the other was going to wear and then we all get together and amazingly there were no clashing colors.  I felt like we were getting ready for a wedding though with all the pictures.

Kaylee had the opportunity to get baptized in a dress instead of a jumper, which she loved and thought was so special.  A women in our ward, who is in charge of the baptismal clothes, let us borrow the dress her daughter got baptized in. My aunt gave her these special socks to wear.  There was a poem attached to them that talked about choosing the right way as she enters into the waters of baptism.  There was definitely a glow about her when she came out of the water.  It was a special time for her and I in the changing room together getting her dressed again.  She couldn't stop smiling and I couldn't stop hugging her.  Her Papa Curtis confirmed her a member of the church.  That was a very special blessing.  I am grateful to be surrounded by worthy priesthood holders.  A husband who could baptize our daughter.  A father who could confirm her.  A father in law and brothers to stand as witnesses.  Seeing all of them  standing  in a circle around my daughter with their hands on her head made my heart overflow with love and appreciation for them and every thing they stand for.    Everyone helped to make this day so special for Kaylee and our family.  Thank you to all of our family and friends who came to show their love and support.  It wouldn't have been the same with out you!!
