New Traditions

Every year we seem to adopt a new Christmas tradition, along with keeping up on all the old ones.  To me, family traditions are what makes Christmas comforting and special.  Last year we adopted two new traditions.  Kaylee and I made a popcorn garland for the kids Christmas tree.  We had so much fun doing it, that we decided we would do it every year.  Last year was also the first year Santa came to collect letters from our Christmas mailbox.  He delivered special letters and  little candy canes in return.  Santa came again this year, collecting from the mailbox and delivering candy canes.

On the Christmas tree too.

He actually came twice.  Jake wrote another letter and Drew colored a picture.  The second time around the letters sat in the mailbox for a week before Santa came to pick them up and drop off more letters.  Santa was a little busy…and a little tired.  But he came again.  We also made our popcorn garland, this time turning it into a family affair, which is probably why we don’t have any pictures of that! :)

This year we tried something new.  To celebrate the beginning of Christmas break we had a sleepover under the Christmas tree.  The kids got all ready for bed and bundled up on the floor with blankets and a Christmas movie.  It was fun to see them asleep under the Christmas lights.  I think we’ll adopt this one as a tradition too.
